Tips from the Front Lines- Beach Anchoring

It's crucial to keep an eye on your boat when you anchor at a beach.

  1. Check the TIDES app so you know when you're losing water depth.
  2. Check the WINDY app so you know where your boat will be pushed throughout the day.
  3. Make sure you have BOTH a bow and stern anchor deployed.

If you neglect your vessel as the tide is going out, it will become grounded and:

  1. You will have to wait for rescue
  2. The dock staff will be pulled away from their duties
  3. The boat can sustain an assortment of damage from scraping off the bottom paint (which keeps marine growth at bay) to gouging a hole in the hull.
  4. The vessel may have to remain there until the tide comes up high enough to float it again. This could be hours or days and result in upcoming reservation  cancellations!
